Making learning fun . One activity at a time

UpPercase vs Lowercase letters – What should you teach first?

This is one of the most asked question that I have across , what should we teach our child first – upper case or lower case letters . There are lots f different opinions on this topic but I personally believe that both the cases should be taught together .

So instead of teaching only ‘A’ or ‘a’ , we should teach like this – ‘Aa’ and it makes the sound /a/ .

Is it confusing for children ?

If we are starting to teach them both of the letters together from the beginning then NO it won’t be confusing at all and in fact it becomes easier and faster as we are learning them together.

So we are actually making it easier for our kids to learn all the cases together instead of learning them seperately.

What is the benefit of teaching uppercase and lowercase letters together ?

The biggest advantage of doing with this technique that we are saving time by learning all the letters together – 26 lower case + 26 upper case letters.

If we separate them then we are teaching them 26 letters each time which makes learning 52 letters in total.

And also the fact that when they start reading they will be encountering more lower case letters than upper case letters and which complete sense to teach them both the cases together.
