Making learning fun . One activity at a time

MAGNETIC TILES BEGINNING SOUNDS BOARD GAME

My kids love playing board games and I love it too because there so many learning benefits with it. But what I don’t like is buying every other board game that is available on the market so instead we make our own simple and easy board games at home that we enjoy playing and also learn some new skills.

Now there are many ways that yo can make a diy board game but I like using magnetic tiles because it’s literally no prep.

And this game is really great for all the young kids who are learning letter sounds(very important skill) and it is absolutely not necessary to include all the letters at once.

In fact I would recommend to start with these letters first – ‘s’ , ‘a’ , ‘t’ , ‘p’ , ‘i’ , ‘n’.

Learning Meter

  1. Beginning Sounds
  2. Number sense
  3. Team work
  4. Social skills

Supplies Needed

  1. Magnetic Tiles
  2. White Chalk marker or Dry erase marker
  3. Dice
  4. Counters – lego mini figures or any small object that can be moved around on the board game

Let’s Play & Learn

Let’s start with arranging the tiles in a board game style and write the letters on top of these tiles (one on each tile) with a start and end tile at the beginning and end respectively.

Now this game can also be played individually but off off course it’s more fun when you have more players.

The youngest player starts the game by rolling the dice and moves those many steps and then they have to say the sound of the letter that they land on . The game continues until someone reaches at the end point and wins the game.
