Puzzles are a great way to help in development of problem solving and cognitive skills in young toddlers. And by this I don’t mean that you need to buy every other puzzle available in the toy shelf.
You can actually make your own puzzle in very simple and easy ways and toddlers are going to love doing this activity.

Let’s Play & Learn
We introduced this activity to my toddler when she turned 2 yrs old and she really had fun doing it and we keep revisiting it as and when needed.
All you need to do is make a shape on paper plate , fill it some color and then cut the paper plate in half , repeat these same steps for 4 -5 different shapes. You can do the basic shapes like –
- Square
- Rectangle
- Triangle
- Circle
- Star
- Diamond
- Heart
Now jumble up all these pieces and place them around on the floor . Next , ask your toddler to find the matching piece and complete the shape.
Every time they complete a puzzle correctly , ask them what shape it is ? what color is it? and then move on to the next shape.
